Investment Committee

The Committee is comprised of six members, with representatives from the management team and other strategic shareholders.  The Chairman will be nominated by the management team. Key functions of the Committee include overseeing the investment management process and approving investments. Additionally, 3i will undertake an advisory role in relation to the Investment Committee.  In addition to the founding partners, Faisal bin Juma Belhoul and Khaldoun Haj Hasan, the current members of the committee include the following:

 

Abubaker Khouri

Mr. Khouri is currently the Managing Director of Sorouh Real Estate PJSC. Prior to joining Sorouh, he was the Assistant Director of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) and was in charge of overseeing its Private Equities Portfolio.  At ADIA, Mr. Khouri has been responsible for investing in private equity funds and direct deals in Western and Eastern Europe and Asia.

In addition to his full time responsibility, he is a director in several boards of Private Equity funds in the US, Europe and Asia. He also represents the government of Abu Dhabi in several boards which include Abu Dhabi Investment Company (ADIC), General Holding Company (GHC), Emirates Foodstuff & Mineral Water Company (AGTHIA) and Dubai Cable Company (DUCAB).

Mr. Khouri obtained his Finance degree from Linfield College in Oregon, U.S.A. He is a Certified Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of AIMR.  Mr. Khouri had also completed The Executive Business Program at Harvard Business School in 2001.

 

Khaled Al-Muhairy

Khaled is the Founder and CEO of Evolvence Capital, a financial services firm, based in Dubai with approximately US$700 million of assets under management. He is responsible for oversight of the company’s strategic focus as well as the cultural assimilation between Evolvence and its partners.

Khaled has been very successful in developing new business opportunities through prospecting and fostering relationships with leaders in the alternative investment community. He has been involved in the generation of a significant amount of capital for private and public companies such as Paypal, IG and Learningbyte, and has led the incubation of several private equity, real estate and hedge funds such as BTU, Madison Harbor Capital, Evolvence India Fund, S&P Hedge Fund Index Fund, Evolvence Education Fund, Evolvence Emirates Opportunities Fund and the Evolvence India Real Estate Development Fund.

Khaled serves as a member of the Investment Committee of Ithmar Capital and is a board member of Aradi Real Estate Company. He also acts as the Chairman of EFG Hermes Securities and the Vice-Chairman of Gulf Telecom Investments.

Prior to founding Evolvence Capital, Mr. Al-Muhairy worked for the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, where he specialized in Technology and Telecommunication equity investment coverage for the North American department of the organization.

Khaled graduated from St Louis University, USA in 1994 with a Finance Major. In addition, he has attended courses with Wellington Management Company, USA and Citibank Global Markets, USA.

 

Nada Hammoudi

Ms. Hammoudi is currently Senior Investment Manager and Head of Private Equity at Abu Dhabi Investment Company (ADIC).  At her present post, she is involved in managing a portfolio of investments totaling AED 1 billion, in the Private Equity asset class.  She is responsible for overseeing a ten-member investment management team, involved in the whole gamut of the private equity value chain, including screening, due diligence, negotiating and structuring transactions.  In this capacity, she has covered a broad range of industries such as healthcare, education, services, oil& gas, industry and telecom. 

Furthermore, Ms. Hammoudi was also involved in leading the investment and portfolio construction of ADIC’s private equity fund of funds which currently includes a list of best of bread GPs such as KKR, Blackstone, Carlyle, Advent, CVC, Lexington, Coller, Cinven, and Oak Hill.  As another key accomplishment, Ms. Hammoudi also co-led an investment into possibly one of the first MBOs in the region in the marine maintenance services sector.  She then successfully managed the investment to an IPO exit at 62% IRR.

Ms. Hammoudi brings on board strong hands-on experience in the regional private equity industry, involving some of the key industries in the region. Prior to her current role at ADIC, Ms. Hammoudi has worked for a leading venture capital bank in Tunisia and the Centre for Global Energy Studies in the UK.  Ms. Hammoudi currently serves as Board of Director for a number of ADIC’s subsidiaries.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Management from King’s College, University of London with Honours.

Paul Waller, Advisor

Paul Waller Joined 3i in 1978 and has been a member of the Executive Committee since 1999.  He has extensive experience in the private equity industry.  He has been the Past Chairman of the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association.  At 3i, holding the position of managing partner of funds, his primary responsibility is fund management.

Rod Perry, Director

Rod has over 30 years of experience in the fields of investments and strategic planning.  Prior to joining Ithmar Capital as Director, in July 2005, Mr. Perry worked for 20 years at 3i, one of the largest Private Equity firms in the world.  During his tenure at 3i, Mr. Perry held a number of positions including Sector Advisor and CIO before becoming overall head of Group Services.  He was an Executive Director of the Group from 1999 to 2005.  He was also a member of the Executive Committee and Investment Committee from 1997 to 2005.  From 1997 to the end of 2001 he was responsible for developing the 3i investment business in Asia Pacific and from 2001 to 2005 he was the Global Head of Venture Capital for 3i.  Mr. Perry has a BSc in Physics and is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (CEng MIEE).  Rod retired from his full time role at 3i in July 2005 but continues to be retained as a consultant.

AbdulMohsen Ibrahim AlTouq, Director

AbdulMohsen AlTouq was born in January 1974 in Riyadh and since 1998, as the CEO, manages the day to day operations of the AlTouq Family Office. He has been instrumental in structuring and institutionalizing the operations and has successfully diversified in to the following industry verticals: Financial Services, Energy, Telecommunications, Infrastructure and Real Estate.

After managing the Equity Portfolio at the AlTouq Family Office, from 1996 to 1998 he underwent an extensive training programme with Credit Agricole Indosuez in Geneva and HSBC in Riyadh.

AbdulMohsen is an active investor in the local and international markets and has been aggressively pursuing direct opportunities across all asset classes.

He currently chairs or sits on the boards of several group related companies, such as: Dar AlTamleek, Arabian Industries, Ithmar Capital, Gulf Investment Partners, Saudi Networkers Services and Quilvest MEA (Advisory Board.)

He is also a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and the Young Arab Leaders (YAL).

He obtained his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration majoring in Finance from King Saud University in 1995.
