Ranjit Bhonsle, Partner

Prior to joining Ithmar Capital in January 2007, he founded in 2002 Ravelin Capital Group, LLC, a New York based private equity group focused on leveraged buyouts of small to medium sized companies. At Ravelin, he led buyouts of three companies and purchase of equity positions in three growth oriented businesses; investing a total of $20.0 million. Prior to Ravelin Capital, he was a general partner at Kohlberg & Co., a private equity firm founded by Jerome Kohlberg, also the founder of Kohlberg, Kravis and Roberts (KKR). During his tenure at Kohlberg between 1993 and 2002, he led or participated in leveraged buyouts of twelve companies with total invested capital of $250 million. These twelve transactions returned a total of $1.0 billion in proceeds to investors or generated a blended internal rate of return of 40%. From 1991 to 1993 he was a financial analyst in the corporate restructuring group of Kidder, Peabody, and an investment bank based in New York City. He was involved in a number of financings, mergers, takeovers, restructuring and acquisitions with combined transaction value of $3.0 billion.
He is the chairman of the board of directors of Genapure, Inc., the 10th largest quality control/quality assurance compliance company in the United States.
Ranjit obtained a BA-Economics from the University of Michigan and a MBA from the London Business School.
Abhishek Sharma
Abhishek Sharma is a Director at Ithmar Capital, a GCC-focused private equity firm targeting growth capital and buyouts of businesses in attractive sectors. At Ithmar Capital, he is instrumental in various aspects of the business from deal origination, execution, portfolio management and formulating exit strategies and is also integrally involved in several Ithmar investments including Al Noor Medical Company and Mushrif Trading and Contracting Company.
Prior to joining Ithmar, Abhishek worked with Sun Capital Partners, a $10 billion US based private equity firm, where he focused on turnarounds and special situations. He reviewed and executed transactions in a wide variety of sectors including consumer and retail, manufacturing and media and telecom. Previously, he had worked at Lehman Brothers where he focused on mergers and acquisitions and leveraged finance transactions in the media and telecom sector in both the U.S. and Europe. Before Lehman, Abhishek was as an investment banking analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in New York. In addition to Ithmar Capital, Abhishek Sharma is a member of the Board of Directors of Spring Air India Ltd.
Abhishek is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences where he was a National Dean’s List Scholar.
Karim Ziwar
Karim Ziwar is a Director at Ithmar Capital, where he is involved in various aspects of the business from deal origination and execution to portfolio management. He initially joined Ithmar Capital to focus on Fund I portfolio management and value enhancement. As a Director, his current responsibilities include financial and operational analysis of a potential business acquisition. In addition to managing due diligence processes, he also monitors portfolio companies – dedicating his time to ensure performance improvement and implementing optimal investment exits or monetization.
Prior to joining Ithmar Capital, Karim spent four years with Tejari, the Venture Capital arm of Dubai World, where he was responsible for the investment strategy within the new ventures department, as well as regional expansion across 15 countries. He was formerly employed by the National Telecommunication Corporation, Egypt’s largest private IT/Telecommunications company, where he managed the share swap and merger of 18 subsidiaries, and the IPO process.
Karim attained his BA in Finance and Management, and his MBA in Corporate Finance and International Business with a focus on eCommerce Strategy from the University of Miami.
Tharshan Wijeyamohan
Tharshan is a Senior Associate and is actively involved in both deal execution and portfolio management – where he focuses on value creation and performance improvement for Dewan Architects and Engineers and Al Noor Medical Company.
Prior to joining Ithmar Capital, Tharshan spent three years with Morgan Stanley in their Investment Banking Division where he focused almost exclusively on Infrastructure and Utilities. He worked on a number of transactions including Singapore Power and Babcock & Brown’s A$14 billion acquisition of Alinta, BG’s A$17 billion bid for Origin Energy, the A$800 million IPO of Babcock & Brown Power, the A$3.1 billion rights offering for SP Ausnet and NRG’s A$530 million sale of Flinders Power to Babcock & Brown.
Tharshan is also an Executive on the Australian Business Council of Dubai responsible for membership development.
Tharshan earned a double Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Sydney with First Class Honors.
